Walk-In Henna this Saturday • Noon to 400pm<p>I am very pleased to be part of a small troupe of local vendors to help kick off the Grand Opening of Fluent. Located on the corner of Post & Normandy in Jacksonville, Florida, the address is 971 Cassatt. This colorful yellow building seems hard to miss, but I had to drive back by to enter correctly. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhLt7jaYhWAw8nlbcys0OGjrgEaoChKRElH7AbuxkqbcQS49ikYBsmH43UxZuf1XmgcaprvzTZtSY3-TDCBD6g1cryRUJrRSLJ7ndrjmH2r6ZE7ahT4P5EfM2xMnUFuB3YQVN-4n84LwluXunm1lfrs2mLt-vOKn8DVwEC5jrL2ixcKiFFAF-Y/s600/fluent.opening.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="597" data-original-width="600" height="270" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhLt7jaYhWAw8nlbcys0OGjrgEaoChKRElH7AbuxkqbcQS49ikYBsmH43UxZuf1XmgcaprvzTZtSY3-TDCBD6g1cryRUJrRSLJ7ndrjmH2r6ZE7ahT4P5EfM2xMnUFuB3YQVN-4n84LwluXunm1lfrs2mLt-vOKn8DVwEC5jrL2ixcKiFFAF-Y/w272-h270/fluent.opening.jpg" width="272" /></a></div><p>There will be some other local vendors, a food truck and.... a doctor to answer your questions. <div style="text-align: left;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-S7iEGnt4vgA/SHYnioDROKI/AAAAAAAAAS0/t8JyeO4m3BQ84EZat4BlSRFU5MeuMVS9wCPcBGAYYCw/s1600/red_pomegranate2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="494" data-original-width="328" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-S7iEGnt4vgA/SHYnioDROKI/AAAAAAAAAS0/t8JyeO4m3BQ84EZat4BlSRFU5MeuMVS9wCPcBGAYYCw/s320/red_pomegranate2.jpg" width="212" /></a>Greetings! It has been a long road to some henna tattoo this year! I did not want to work until the Governor gave all Tattoo Artists the OK to go back to work. Although my art does not penetrate the skin, we are going to be very close to one another... there is no way around it. </div>
<br />
I am happy to say I found a new henna powder that is fresh and fragrant and gives a deep red color when well cared for. Caring for your henna is your part of the process. Putting a good design with quality henna paste is my part.<br />
<br />
Preparation is critical this year as we have hand sanitizers to watch out for. I have no idea what a hand sanitizer will do to henna if you have it on your skin before we decorate, but it is best if you come with clean skin. As well, you will not be able to use a sanitizer while you have henna on.<br />
<br />
To preserve your henna, please keep a light coat of a natural oil over your design. The best oils are olive, coconut, and avocado. Please do not use grape seed oil, for some reason it takes the color from the design.<br />
<br />
If you put oil over your henna before you put your hands in water, your design will last as long as is possible. I do not use any dyes or chemicals in my paste. This is not black henna, nor is it from a tube made anywhere else. I have been making paste for 20 years now and promise you there are only fresh food quality ingredient.s<br />
<br />
My opening day should be Saturday, June 6th at The Studios located at 1506 King Street. I don't know if we will have social distancing markers on the floor..... but I am sure we can manage. This year I will not have a phone gallery of photos to share with everyone.. (you know.. Covid).. but I did put all the images in that gallery on line at my <a href="https://www.facebook.com/SpiritVisionHennaTattoo/" target="_blank">Facebook Page</a>. You can find Spirit Vision Henna on Facebook. If you follow my page you will have all the updates.<br />
<br />
Please bring cash this year. It will keep me from having to stop everything to swipe a card.. and with lemon sugar & henna paste on hand.. cash is easy. Designs start at $15, the bigger ones are $20. Have a great week and come see me Saturday.<br />

<span style="font-kerning: none;">Applying </span><span style="font-kerning: none;">henna paste in humid weather really doesn’t work as well as applying henna in the Summer Sun. The paste seems to absorb water from the air regardless and this results in a poor quality stain. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; min-height: 14px;">

<span style="font-kerning: none;">If you come in for a henna tattoo, spend time and money to buy a lovely design, Spirit Vision Henna wants you get the best color possible.</span><span style="font-family: "tahoma"; line-height: normal;"> We</span><span style="font-kerning: none;"> want you to take your henna tattoo out in to the sunshine and allow it to cure for several hours. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; min-height: 14px;">

<span style="font-kerning: none;">Drying your henna in the sun helps you get good color. The hotter you get, the more you perspire, the more your pores will open. This allows the paste to penetrate deeper into your skin. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; min-height: 14px;">

<span style="font-kerning: none;">Spirit Vision Henna artists do not want to send your new henna tattoo (paste on the skin) out into the rain! Henna will smudge when it is wet. Rain is wet. <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Jagua does offer some advantages that henna tattoo just can't. Because Jagua is not a heat activated paste an artist can apply it most anywhere on your body. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">For those who want temporary tattoos on the shoulders, back, side, thigh or other areas where henna is not use, this product will stain your skin. </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I do see that stencils are often sold with the kits, so if you are a beginner to this kind of art, you are in luck! You can transfer the pattern and trace it using a squeeze bottle with a needle style tip. </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I kept doing research and have decided I will not take up the art form for the following reasons:</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><u>Cost: </u></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Henna Paste: I can make a several cones of first class henna paste with fresh powder and premium oils for less than $5.00 a cone. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">A 2 oz squeeze applicator of Jagua at retail costs $25.95. The kits are about the same price. I would have to charge far more for Jagua tattoos than I do for henna. </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><u>Texture:</u> </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Henna: I can mix the henna to be just as I like it. A more liquid paste penetrates your skin and dries more slowly (10 t0 15 minutes) so that you get a great color. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Jagua: It is sold as a gel if I buy a pre-mix, so I have little control of the way it flows. If I buy a mix it up kit, then I can have more control but spend 3 to 5 times as much as I do for a henna cone. </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><u>Dry Time: </u> </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Henna: Henna paste will dry in 15 minutes. I will spray it with a lemon/sugar mixture (touch of clove oil) to help the paste stay on your skin as long as possible. You can then go out an enjoy the day. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Jagua: Instructions suggest your remain still and allow 30 minutes to 1 hour for jagua to completely dry. </span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">There are </span><a href="http://www.jaguaallnaturalbodyart.com/jagua_tattoo.html" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;" target="_blank">additional instructions </a><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">that indicate that getting a Jagua tattoo will define your day!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><u>Placement:</u></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Henna stains best on hands, feet, arms below the elbow and legs to the knee. I also offer belly tattoo for pregnancy and henna art for the head for chemo patients. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Jaugau sites show photos of Jauga tattoo in many places I cannot place henna. Jagua vendors offer the same suggestions about placement for best color as I have listed above. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><u>Aftercare</u></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Henna: You have control over the finished color. The longer you leave the paste on the skin, the hotter you get (sweating is good), the deeper the henna stain can penetrate your skin. </span><br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #414958; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #414958; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">As well, after you have taken the paste off if you keep a light coat of coconut, olive, or other natural oil on the skin. If you keep the area warm over the next 48 hours you can help your design darken and last longer. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #414958; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #414958; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Jagua: The final result seems to depend on leaving the paste undisturbed on your skin for as long as possible. Just as with henna, it takes 48 hours for the final color to appear. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #414958; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #414958; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I think I like the idea of henna best. Each person will get their own unique finished color. Henna paste can give a wide range of tattoo shades. I make a fragrant paste that many find refreshing to wear. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I hope you find this post helpful. If you are having good experiences getting Jagua, please send a note and I will reconsider. </span></div>

<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The best after photos /best color designs are from those women who really work to get the best color. Here are some tricks they use to get good color:<br />
</span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">They have the design applied to their hands! <br />
They stay warm. </span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kRnPgw9CVvw/WWkMlApR4rI/AAAAAAAAHF8/ElBKmejktmI2-c0Azxecw3jzsOJK1ZOTACLcBGAs/s1600/henna_ad.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="360" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kRnPgw9CVvw/WWkMlApR4rI/AAAAAAAAHF8/ElBKmejktmI2-c0Azxecw3jzsOJK1ZOTACLcBGAs/s320/henna_ad.jpg" width="190" /></a></div>
They may dab the design (or spray it) with their own lemon juice/sugar/water mix through the day. </span><br />
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">They may sleep with a sport sock on their hand. </span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">They might oil the design and then blow dry it for 5 minutes off an on through out the first day. </span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal; min-height: 12px;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">It takes 48 hours for the finished color to appear on the skin. This gives lots of time for you to help the process along. </span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
Of course many people get great color without doing anything extra at all. </span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal; min-height: 12px;">

<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I write this because I want you to have the best, darkest, longest lasting henna tattoo possible. Also to emphasize I do not do Jagua. </span></span></div>

<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Traditionally applied to the hands and feet, the purpose of henna is to compliment the natural beauty of the client. Every one has different hands! Some are more square, some long and thing, some are oval and some are rugged. </span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal; min-height: 12px; text-align: left;">

<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">While it is fine to bring along a photo from the Internet to give me an idea of the style you like, on a “Walk In” henna day the goal is for everyone who wants some art to enjoy the process and receive a lovely design. </span></span></div>

<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I prefer to make henna paste when it is at least 80 degrees Farenheit and the weather is sunny. </span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal;">

<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">If it is 90 degrees, the henna powder will release good color in a day. </span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">At 80 degrees, I prefer to allow two days for the paste to develop. (I have always made my own henna paste with fresh, first quality ingredients.) </span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">As a henna artist who has been offering mehandi for 20 years, most often on Saturday, I can tell you that it seems that the weather is conspiring against me. Four or five years ago, henna season began in late February or early March.</span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">As the weather stays cool longer, henna season starts later & later. This year I could not get a really offer first quality henna until early May. </span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Many people do not know that henna is a heat activated body art and that the preparation of a good henna paste is required heat and dry weather. </span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I cure my henna outside on my porch. I leave it on the ledge the first day. I will bring it in to rest, and essential oils and put it out to release the dye again the next day.</span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">have not been able to make a fresh paste this week. The weather has been humid and overcast. Making henna paste in humid weater really doesn’t work well. The powder seems to absorb water from the air regardless of the protection I take to keep the paste dry. This results in a poor quality stain. </span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">If you come in for a henna tattoo, spend time and money to buy a lovley desing, I want you get the best color possible. </span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
If you take your henna tattoo out in to the sunshine and allow it to cure for several hours this really helps you get good color. The hotter you get, the more you perspire, the more your pores will open. This allows the paste to penetrate deeper into your skin. </span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The henna will take 48 hours to develop. Again, after you scrape the paste off your skin, if you will stay warm you will get a better stain. In short - the hotter you get, the better your finished color. </span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">72 degrees is too “cold” to get the best color. 80 or 90 degrees is just fine for a good stain. I realize that many people keep their homes in the low 70s in Summer. To get a good stain there are steps you can take to keep your henna hot while you stay cool:</span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal;">
<br />
<ul style="text-align: left;">
<li><span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">After you scrape the paste from your skin, you may choose to wear a glove to keep your henna warm.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">Please keep oil on your henna tattoo to keep the heat in and water out. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">You may choose to use a blow dryer to heat your henna up from time to time.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">If you got henna on your wrist or inner arm, you may also use a plastic film to trap heat and help the color devleop. </span></li>
</ul>
</div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I am hoping next week we will have good weather! </span></span></div>

<span style="clear: left; float: left; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="592" data-original-width="390" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Gujxv6hol4U/WSjF3KAUy2I/AAAAAAAAHAQ/tmUHoNKKnHUf-0s2jF7rOnoy93-ngWwvwCLcB/s320/original-simple.jpg" width="209" /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The artist of Spirit Vision Henna has 18 years experience in this temporary body art. She is able to do traditional, tribal and other styles of henna tattoo. </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">These are a few samples of the kinds of styles of henna art you can get every Saturday from 12:30 - 5:00 pm at Midnight Sun, 1055 Park Street, Jacksonville, Florida, 32204. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Henna tattoo is not at all like ink. It is an herbal dye. Each artist will make her own special blend to give you the longest lasting stain possible </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="clear: left; float: left; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="343" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-__OuhrkKHhY/WSjEM_f0dAI/AAAAAAAAG_4/8zSaawUFNTokQ2fWbgmAww_YzAF2qCFpACLcB/s320/art_copy.jpg" width="182" /></span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Henna tattoo is a hot weather art form! When you get your henna, be sure to walk around and enjoy some sun. When you are warm, your pores open and the henna can penetrate the skin to stain it. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The first pattern is an original design. It is a cuff and one finger style.... this is a very popular style this year and there are many samples on line on our <a href="https://www.facebook.com/SpiritVisionHennaTattoo/" target="_blank">Facebook Page.</a></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The second pattern is that of another artist. My client brought it in from the web. in general, I prefer to do my own designs, and I am able to do art in this pattern style. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="clear: left; float: left; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="372" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-M1FP8JTOvxQ/WSjEMzjgSDI/AAAAAAAAHAI/_zwGeuNx3qApa0Bw3Wsue7v4X02vjKclACEw/s320/simple-freehand.jpg" width="198" /></span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The last is another original. Usually clients will look at photos of art I have done and pick a few they like. I will make a special design for them based on their style choices. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">It is very important that you do not have any body lotion or antibacterial soap on your skin when you come to get a design, the henna cannot penetrate that chemical, and you will not get a good outcome.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Many people think that these pictures show the final tattoo. In fact these are photos of the paste on the skin. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The finished color is always an reddish color. If you take good care of your henna you may get a dark red, ruby red or black cherry red. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">It is up to you. The longer you leave the paste on the skin, the hotter you get, the deeper the paste will stain. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">It is important to read the aftercare tips on this blog so that you will have the best color. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">You can also see photos of henna on and off the skin on this blog. Prices start at $15 and go up. Some of these designs were $15 and one may have cost a bit more. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I will be sure to work with your budget. If you find a very complex design then it is best to make a private appointment. Walk-in henna day is a day for everyone to get a taste! I am able to complete a simple henna tattoo in 10 minutes. More complex patterns take longer...... but the Midnight Sun is full of wonderful imported treasures!! </span></div>

Finally it's hot enough to get a good paste & dark stain! <div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Here are a few photos from henna this season. Many people do not know:</span><br />
<br />
<ol style="text-align: left;">
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Henna is a heat activated body art. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The dark paste you see on the skin is Not the finished tattoo.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Henna stains darkest on the hands and feet.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Henna paste must stay on the skin at least 3 hours to give a dark stain.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Real henna is always a shade of reddish brown. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Henna stains all skin colors. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Everyone will have a different finished color. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">It takes 48 hours for your final color to show.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">If you keep vegetable oil on your finished tattoo your color lasts longer.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Natural henna will last 7 to 10 days. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">An experienced artist can apply a good design in 10 minutes. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Lemon sugar spray helps the paste stay on the skin. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ekv4owokb-I/V8DZXfE7klI/AAAAAAAAGc8/XGJbRha2puUpVDK0lfrDRjUHcuGGHRSwgCLcB/s1600/IMAG1601_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ekv4owokb-I/V8DZXfE7klI/AAAAAAAAGc8/XGJbRha2puUpVDK0lfrDRjUHcuGGHRSwgCLcB/s320/IMAG1601_1.jpg" width="204" /></a></div>
<div style="line-height: normal;">
<span style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px;">Recently I had my first ever (in 18 years ) client walk out with out paying for their completed art work. I was pretty amazed.</span><span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-size: 15px;"> (Photos on this page are all </span><span style="font-size: 15px;">those from that day. You can see they are bold designs and each client was happy with her purchase.) </span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><br />
I do custom freehand henna. When I began to learn the art form I was happy to copy patterns from a book of a photos. However, it is quite clear to any henna artist that working from a pattern is not as easy as creating an original design. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal; min-height: 18px;">
<span style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal; min-height: 18px;">
<span style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;">The purpose of henna is to make a woman’s hand (or hands and feet) more lovely. I will ask if you prefer floral, tribal, or traditional henna, or I may ask you to show me samples of styles you like. </span><span style="font-kerning: none;"></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">
<br />
Every hand is different. Every batch of henna paste can be different due to the henna crop, the recipe, the acidity of the lemons used to make the paste or the age of the essential oils. Sometimes the paste may come out a bit thicker than I like. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal; min-height: 18px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">I have become good at creating a consistent paste that is easy to work with and often gives a very fine line. Sometimes if I add another brand of henna to the paste it may be harder to work with for some patterns people bring in. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal; min-height: 18px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HALZ-kDpveQ/V8DZ1UZDH1I/AAAAAAAAGdA/NcPrrTW2XaUTnHpdhJJryiu4TpDnfyn9ACLcB/s1600/IMAG1603_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HALZ-kDpveQ/V8DZ1UZDH1I/AAAAAAAAGdA/NcPrrTW2XaUTnHpdhJJryiu4TpDnfyn9ACLcB/s320/IMAG1603_1.jpg" width="182" /></a><span style="font-kerning: none;">Lately clients have been coming in with photos from Pinterest. Some of those photos show henna tattoo, many are photos of Jagua ink which is a very different product. <br />
<br />
<b>Many of these photos show very lovely but very complex and time consuming designs that do not cost $15.</b></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">Most people choose a design style that costs between $15 and $30 dollars. These designs are original, fit the hand, match the style requested and all can be accomplished in 5 to 15 minutes. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal; min-height: 18px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">As there is often a line for henna, I do not offer complex art on Saturdays. I do take private appointments for complex henna, but I need several days advance notice. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal; min-height: 18px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">To the story - the woman who did not pay for her art did so in a very cunning way. She came in with a photo from the Internet. It was a photo of art that was too big for her hand and too big for the paste I had that day. <br />
<br />
I explained that I could not do that pattern, but I would use that pattern to a design that was as close to her request as was possible. She agreed. I was sure to stop after each element of the pattern was completed to ask if she liked the design. <br />
<br />
She agreed with each choice as we went on. I explained that due to her small hand size the flower she wanted would not fit as was shown in the photo and that it would have to be drawn closer to her thumb than was pictured.</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal; min-height: 18px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RpfMIMCV2h8/V8DaCf_rLgI/AAAAAAAAGdE/IqwRDKHH8bgK5hMEc-SCU94egfaoASFGACLcB/s1600/IMAG1604_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RpfMIMCV2h8/V8DaCf_rLgI/AAAAAAAAGdE/IqwRDKHH8bgK5hMEc-SCU94egfaoASFGACLcB/s320/IMAG1604_1.jpg" width="201" /></a></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">When the design (from the Internet) was complete, a $30 design, she said “I don’t like it.” </span><span style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;">I have never had a client say “I don’t like it” to me before. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">I advised her that if this was true she had best hurry to a wash basin and get the henna off her skin at once! I had made a very fast staining paste. She was going to have a henna tattoo on her skin no matter what. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal; min-height: 18px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">I was using Jamila henna and some from Yemen. The Yemeni henna was more coarse than I expected, and so I did many bold designs that day.</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal; min-height: 18px;">

<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">If you are new to henna, the time to say stop is when you first notice you don’t like the design. There is no point in continuing as henna must be washed off very quickly to prevent a stain on the skin.<br />
<br />
I would never use a paper towel or tissue to remove the paste for a complex design that ran from wrist to fingers! That would have left a smeared stain. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal; min-height: 18px;">

<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">I take pride in my work and could not bring myself to “take my art back.” I advised her of the location of the closest clean bathroom and watched her walk away, out the door and to her car! <br />
<br />
She made no effort to hurry to remove the paste. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal; min-height: 18px;">

<span style="font-kerning: none;">It was an odd experience. I really do not know what to think, however, I will now be quite sure to refuse to do a henna tattoo from a photo when I see that the pattern will not fit the hand. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: normal; min-height: 18px;">

<span style="font-kerning: none;">I realize many people in my town are not familiar with henna tattoo. They think the paste on the skin is the finished product. Some think the henna paste on the skin is black henna. Many do not know that the paste stains the skin and takes 48 hours to develop. <br />
<br />
I hope the woman enjoyed her art. Perhaps she did not understand that what you see (paste on skin) is not the finished product. I suspect I will never know. </span></div>

Here is a photo of a lovely peacock henna tattoo. Notice that the henna picture on the right looks like black henna - of course it is not. <br />
<br />
The photo page left is henna paste on the skin. The photo on page right is a photo of the henna paste on the skin.<br />
<br />
As you will see from further posts, henna takes a different color for each person. Natural henna tattoo, which is drawn on the skin, will always be a reddish brown.<br />
<br />
All colors of skin accept henna tattoo. Your aftercare determines whether you get dark color or not.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o2opuXQH1xY/V0Z7K53Vx4I/AAAAAAAAGCY/weITFbXCddcH5kUBYPOyXL1m8uZS-I9egCLcB/s1600/ring_on_off.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="295" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o2opuXQH1xY/V0Z7K53Vx4I/AAAAAAAAGCY/weITFbXCddcH5kUBYPOyXL1m8uZS-I9egCLcB/s320/ring_on_off.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
This is a photo of paste on the skin (again page left) and a good finished color on page right.<br />
<br />
Those who will keep oil on the skin after the paste has come off will get far better color than those who do not.<br />
<br />
As well, those who let their design get good and hot - who spend time in the sun, or use the plastic glove provided will also get a darker stain.<br />
<br />
It will always take 48 hours for the finished color to show up. Good aftercare information is available on my site - as well as on this blog.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7vWLEfTEO3w/V0Z7ui7IHuI/AAAAAAAAGCc/YFgqz0BhfSM4kUCE2oQC7F-4uFjUjRWzwCLcB/s1600/tribal_on_off.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="295" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7vWLEfTEO3w/V0Z7ui7IHuI/AAAAAAAAGCc/YFgqz0BhfSM4kUCE2oQC7F-4uFjUjRWzwCLcB/s320/tribal_on_off.jpg" width="320" /></a>As you scroll down the page you will see that each client chose her own stye, and that some had a darker finished color than others.<br />
<br />
Some clients will give have a more red stain, other more brown and still others may get a black cherry read.<br />
<br />
I have fresh henna powder and use a very find mix of organic lemon juice, "henna tea" and essential oils to give you a fine dark color.<br />
<br />
I always welcome "after" photos from my clients. It really helps people understand what henna tattoo really is. <br />
<br />

I enjoy doing traditional henna style very much.<br />
<br />
All the henna on the page is freehand tattoos, however sometimes clients bring in a design from the web.<br />
<br />
Often these designs are done in a body paint, but sometimes they are henna tattoo.<br />
<br />
Please enjoy the designs here, or go window shopping for others.<br />
<br />
I offer walk in henna tattoo at Midnight Sun, 1055 Park Street, Jacksonville, Florida each Saturday. Just walk in between 12:30 & 5:00.<br />
<br />
Designs start at $15. I am not open any other day of the week. Private parties and corporate events may be scheduled.<br />

No such thing! Henna paste on & paste off! The real color of henna tattoo. <div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oWwX_mFsQiE/VxokAzgRVCI/AAAAAAAAFQM/h4LJmAyJvM0qTHV_yqfMuKZ4kXhkpbvIwCLcB/s1600/Lelanie_pasteon.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oWwX_mFsQiE/VxokAzgRVCI/AAAAAAAAFQM/h4LJmAyJvM0qTHV_yqfMuKZ4kXhkpbvIwCLcB/s320/Lelanie_pasteon.jpg" width="209" /></a></div>
I receive so many calls from people wanting black henna. It is surprising to me that after all the public service announcements about the dangers of "black henna" that people are still confused about this topic. There is no such thing as black henna. th<br />
To the left is a photo of henna paste on the skin.<br />
<br />
This paste on the skin can appear to be black henna.<br />
<br />
I make fresh henna paste for my clients. This assures you will have the best finished color. How well you care for your design determines the quality of the finished color.<br />
<br />
Keep the paste on for at least 3 hours. The longer the paste stays on the darker your finished color will be. If you will walk in the sun, or at least stay active so that your blood circulates and you are warm, the henna will give a better color.<br />
<br />
Also, after you take the paste off, please keep a layer of olive or coconut oil on the design area. This will keep the henna warm, and keep water out of the skin. Keep your hands out of chlorine water, avoid scrubbing your hands, <br />
<br />
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-U5WPdv76mrs/VxomERQVkfI/AAAAAAAAFQY/OzyNYBQHQuQsFHWcI8QtMg21Qcwvrl_DwCLcB/s1600/lelanie24.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-U5WPdv76mrs/VxomERQVkfI/AAAAAAAAFQY/OzyNYBQHQuQsFHWcI8QtMg21Qcwvrl_DwCLcB/s320/lelanie24.jpg" width="209" /></a>If you take good care of your henna tattoo you can have a finished color that looks like this!<br />
<br />
This is the color about 24 hours after the paste has been removed.<br />
<br />
Henna takes 48 hours to give its darkest stain on the skin. Many clients will sleep in a sock or mitten to help get a dark color.<br />
<br />
I offer you a plastic food service glove to help you "sweat" the henna design.<br />
<br />
This is an art form that comes from very hot climates - Africa, India and the Middle East. Air conditioning is not common.<br />
<br />
In the USA we seem to think that 72 degrees is the ideal temperature...... however 85 - 95 degrees is the best temperature to keep then pores open. If you sweat a bit, this is also good, it keeps the paste moist on your skin.<br />
<br />
If you scrape the paste off and do not see color right away, do not be alarmed. Many people have a very light stain at first.<br />
<br />
Please: No Lotions, No Hand Sanitizers! No petroleum products on your skin before or after henna. These often chemical products will pull the color away. Natural lotions only.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
See you Saturday at Midnight Sun. 12:30??<br />

<div>
<br /></div>
I am very pleased with the results of my 5 minute test of my henna paste. Henna powder harvested 2015 stains very quickly, giving a deep reddish brown on my finger tip with no special care taken at all.<br />
<br />
After care.<br />
If you want to get the best henna tattoo possible here are very helpful pointers!<br />
<ol style="text-align: left;">
<li>Be sure your hands are clean!<br />
<ol></ol>
</li>
<li> Do not wear body lotion.</li>
<li>Do not have hand sanitizer on your skin.</li>
<li>Leave your henna paste on at least 3 hours.</li>
<li>Remove your henna design by gently scraping the paste from your skin.</li>
<li>Use olive or coconut oil to remove any excess paste.</li>
<li>Keep a natural oil (not grape seed) on your henna for the first 3 days.</li>
<li>Put oil over your design before taking a shower.</li>
<li>Keep your henna out of water (chlorine in tap water can bleach the color.)</li>
<li>Remember - heat is good for henna. Walk in the sun, sweat a bit. </li>
</ol>
<div>
Henna works by penetrating the layers of the skin. The longer the paste stays on the skin the darker the finished color will be.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<ul style="text-align: left;">
<li><b>How long will my henna tattoo last? </b></li>
</ul>
</div>
<div>
If you follow the instructions above, you should get very good color because you are taking care to keep the stain in the skin. The complete design should show for at least one week. Henna will then begin to fade as skin cells regenerate. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<ul style="text-align: left;">
<li><b>How long will it take to do a henna tattoo?</b></li>
</ul>
<div>
In general a $15 design can be done in 10 minutes or so. The time it takes to apply depends on where you want the henna tattoo, how complex a design you choose, how large a design you choose. </div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If you are on a budget - just tell me how much you want to spend and what style of henna you prefer. I am sure to create something you will enjoy and can easily afford. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<ul style="text-align: left;">
<li><b>What else should I know?</b></li>
</ul>
<div>
Henna is for the hands and feet. You will always get your best finished color there. The henna will provide a lighter stain on the arms and legs. I prefer not to do the back nor the upper arm. I will - however you will not get the same deep stain as you would on your hands. </div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I look forward to decorating you this year!! Henna is offered most every Sunday from 12:30 - 5:00 in the lovely ambiance of Midnight Sun, 10055 Park Street, Jacksonville, FL. 32204.</div>

Call to see if there is henna today.<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RP2_-ExKw9w/VvakLL1eZGI/AAAAAAAAFOs/W3OnRGjN_o0eakIp8voxnf3sPuqHEGG1g/s1600/easy_traditional.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RP2_-ExKw9w/VvakLL1eZGI/AAAAAAAAFOs/W3OnRGjN_o0eakIp8voxnf3sPuqHEGG1g/s200/easy_traditional.jpg" width="120" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I realize that many people think that the photo on the left is "henna tattoo." </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It is - the first part of the process. This is a photo of henna paste on the skin. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Henna is not black! A henna tattoo begins with with application of paste on the skin. The photo page left is the beginning of a process and not the finished henna tattoo. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Henna is a <b><u>Heat Activated Body Art. </u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This means that is needs to be warm outside for the dye that is in that henna paste to stain your skin. Henna is most often applied in Africa, India and cultures of the Middle East. It is hot there. Few places have air conditioning. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
A good henna tattoo happens when it is at least 85 degrees, and you are prepared to sweat a little bit. When it is hot, your pores open and the stain can penetrate your skin more deeply. If you are glistening - the paste will not dry up as fast, rather it will stay damp and active. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
If it is raining hard, that is heavy thunderstorms, I do not come out to offer henna. Bright, hot, sunny days are best for a sucessful henna tattoo. Hot cloudy days will do, but 90 degrees is a good hot. 75 degrees is not hot. I now have a very good crop of henna that makes a paste that leave a good stain if left on only 5 minutes (on the palm) on a 75 degree day. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JQdouWYbXh4/VvamTBK1HiI/AAAAAAAAFO8/riE244n2N9IixbKAS_AguozZdl6tgUWDg/s1600/hennaon_off.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JQdouWYbXh4/VvamTBK1HiI/AAAAAAAAFO8/riE244n2N9IixbKAS_AguozZdl6tgUWDg/s200/hennaon_off.jpg" width="200" /></a> Rainy days make it more likely the henna paste you see above will get wet. Water ruins the process. In fact, putting oil on your skin after the paste comes off help you get a good henna tattoo. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
If you look at the second picture- you will see good henna tattoo. The black paste on the skin and the finished henna 48 hours later (the reddish brown colored stain) on the right. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This dark color is a quality color. This is what henna is all about. This kind of color takes fresh powder, a good paste, and client who is willing to take care of their process and a bright, bright, sunshiny day! </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I hope this helps all who are waiting for henna. The reddish color you see is what we are waiting for. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
All too often I hear people say "henna doesn't work on me." If you have poor circulation, then you may not get as dark a stain as a young, healthy person. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
However, if you follow the instruction on your after care sheet, and wait with me for the weather to heat up just a bit more.... we will make some art! </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I look forward to the start of henna season!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ioh-clo610U/VSXUuodcFII/AAAAAAAAE24/5Y2WoBloY5w/s1600/06jeweled_cuff.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ioh-clo610U/VSXUuodcFII/AAAAAAAAE24/5Y2WoBloY5w/s1600/06jeweled_cuff.jpg" height="200" width="115" /></a></div>
I had a phone call today from someone asking me if I did "<a href="http://www.mehandi.com/shop/gilding/" target="_blank">white</a>" henna tattoo. I appreciate that many people do not understand what henna tattoo is, and so they can be misled.<br />
<br />
Henna tattoo is made from the crushed leaves of the henna plant - you can refer to the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henna" target="_blank">Wikipedia notes</a> on henna for a deeper understanding. True henna tattoo will always be a shade of reddish brown, red, brown, perhaps a pale orange if the powder is very old.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-m5s_Fgdz6eY/VSXU3RC6XmI/AAAAAAAAE3A/DjQSSftYg6E/s1600/white-henna.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-m5s_Fgdz6eY/VSXU3RC6XmI/AAAAAAAAE3A/DjQSSftYg6E/s1600/white-henna.jpg" height="200" width="116" /></a></div>By definition, you cannot have "white henna." However you can have "gilding." Gilding is a process that uses a henna cone, usually a hair gel of some kind, and a glitter powder. The gilding can be any number of colors - white, blue, green, basically any color of body glitter can be used to make the paste. Again, here is a link to buy the ingredients you need to make a <a href="http://www.mehandi.com/shop/gilding/" target="_blank">white tattoo.</a><br />
<br />
The gel paste may be applied using a cone - which is a similar method to henna tattoo - however it is not henna tattoo, it is white gilding and will last as long as you do not wash the gilding off. Perhaps people are using a fixative to keep that gilding on a bit longer, or mixing some new ingredient into the paste to make it last longer.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c3EYMG6trU0/VSXVfVbUsSI/AAAAAAAAE3I/bZ-vmYHQsEM/s1600/04golden_gilding.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c3EYMG6trU0/VSXVfVbUsSI/AAAAAAAAE3I/bZ-vmYHQsEM/s1600/04golden_gilding.jpg" height="200" width="116" /></a></div>
</div>It is traditional to gild a finished henna tattoo so that the bride can have her authentic henna tattoo embellished to match her outfits. There are photos of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henna" target="_blank">gilded henna </a> in a variety of colors, including white on my website. Just click the link above to see examples.<br />
<br />
As a gilded design is a short lived design in general, and as there has not been much demand for gilding, I no longer offer it on a regular basis. If you would like white guiding, in a traditional henna pattern, I am happy to oblige.<br />

Henna paste that gives the deepest, longest lasting color, takes me 48 hours to prepare. It is possible to get a good paste in 24 hours, but the best paste, in my humble opinion, is given time and temperature for the henna leaves to release their dye.<br />
<br />
On Wednesday morning I began the process by melting two "cubes" of prepared henna tea (I learned to mix a tea over 10 years ago, and have been adjusting it ever since,) adding some lemon juice, and after letting that cool, I added three henna powders to the liquid.<br />
<br />
It is important for me to select a good texture for the paste on the first day. I find it better to make a bit thicker paste on the first day, that way I can adjust it with essential oils and other liquids to make it the consistency that I prefer to work with on day two.<br />
<br />
After mixing the tea, lemon, powder and a touch of cajeput oil on day one, I put this in a stainless steel bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, but that wrap in a plastic bag, and put that on the porch to cure in the sun.<br />
<br />
The warm summer sun on the porch helps the henna to release the dye. On the morning of the second day, I check to see if the dye has been released. This can be determined by just looking at the paste in the bowl. The past will be darker and you may see a reddish liquid at the bottom of the bowl.<br />
<br />
On the second day I add a combination of essential oils ( called "terping") to help the paste continue to release the darkest dye, as well, to make the paste into a workable texture. I have learned over the years that a more liquid paste is easier to apply, stays wet on the skin longer, and gives a darker color.<br />
<br />
I now use about 8 oils in the blend, although not all the oils each time. Sometimes I mix the batch with fewer. Oils that I have use are:<br />
<br />
<ul style="text-align: left;">
<li>clove</li>
<li>cajeput</li>
<li>basil</li>
<li>neroli</li>
<li>naioli</li>
<li>cardamom</li>
<li>tea tree</li>
<li>geranium</li>
<li>lavender</li>
</ul>
<div>
You can visit other sites to see lists of other oils. I am satisfied with the nice reds I am able to get on the back of the hand using this method. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If you have a look at the video below, you will see a nice, fluid paste that goes on well. I like to use this viscosity myself. I hope you find this post helpful. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-x-sCEyZSWW0/U5mpJFIULjI/AAAAAAAAEqc/ChmL8verEvE/s1600/red_pomegranate.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-x-sCEyZSWW0/U5mpJFIULjI/AAAAAAAAEqc/ChmL8verEvE/s1600/red_pomegranate.jpg" height="187" width="320" /></a></div>
This is a fine example (un-retouched) of a good henna stain. As is always true, the best color is achieved on the palms of the hands.<br />
<br />
The palm is the most porous and fleshy part of the tattooable body. However, the kind of color that you see in this photo occurs when the finest quality paste is used.<br />
<br />
Recently, shoppers buying boxes of henna at Midnight Sun have asked about the process. They wonder what to do with this box of powder.<br />
<br />
To be helpful, I have published a basic <a href="http://spiritvisionhenna.com/henna_powder.html" target="_blank">henna paste recipe</a> on my site. It is not the recipe I am using this year, as I have perfected the basics to get a paste that I like very much. It is easy to apply, takes to the skin very well, and gives a good read color even on the back of the hands.<br />
<br />
Important things to know about making a great paste are:<br />
<br />
<ul style="text-align: left;">
<li>It takes two days preparation to get the very best paste. The first day you mix the henna with lemon juice. I use lemon juice and a special tea composed of spices, herbs, flowers and other ingredients to help the henna stay to the skin and of course to give the darkest color possible. The second day you add the essential oils. </li>
<li>You get the best henna paste in the spring or summer time. Why? Because you can put the henna in the sun. Henna is a heat activated dye. Heat is required to get the powder to release the day. (As well, heat helps the paste cure in the skin.) I put my paste in a metal bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, put that in a sealed bag, and set it on the porch. The bowl is covered to prevent the paste from drying out. </li>
<li>It is important to make the paste thin enough so that it is easy to work with. A more liquid paste handles well, and it penetrates the skin better. </li>
<li>I use a plastic cone to apply the henna. The squeeze bottle becomes difficult to work with overtime. You may cut off the tip of the cone to create the smallest opening that is possible for a good henna flow. If a line is too thin, you can go back over it. If a line is too think, there is not much to do about that as a good paste will begin to stain instantly.</li>
<li>It is wise to invest in a good collection of essential oils. I have at least 6 that I use on any given paste. They include: cajeput, lavender, geranium, basil, cardamom, clove, neroli, tea tree, and... one or two more. You can visit different site to see what kinds of oils other artists use.</li>
<li>I prefer henna powder from <a href="http://www.hennasooq.com/" target="_blank">Henna Sooq</a> at this time. I have used others, and there are many fine providers, but I am having excellent results with a combination of three powders from that company. </li>
</ul>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
In short, I have been working to make the a good henna paste for over 10 years. I have learned a good deal in the process. I encourage you to enjoy the journey. I do not recommend using premixed henna cones from a local store. If you want to buy henna cones already made to use, then visit a site that sells you fresh/frozen henna and ships it via Priority Mail. </div>

It is always a pleasure to provide the special service of fine line henna tattoo. Usually a client will find something in one of the intricate pattern books on hand. I have a good collection of traditional henna tattoo patterns from India, and often something there will spark the beginnings of a pattern.<br />
<br />
In general, the purpose of henna tattoo is to make the woman's had appear even more lovely, and so pattern book designs are adjusted to fit. Here are photos of fine line henna with the paste on and then off the skin.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For this recipe I used three kinds of henna powder from Henna Sooq, home made tea with lots of herbs, spices and flowers as well as a good mix of essential oils to help the henna release the best color. If you watch this blog, you will see that the finished color on many photos is really quite red. I hope to provide this quality of color for the rest of the season. </div>
